Welcome!

Welcome to newest members Ben Gench (Wichita), Brian Mock (Wichita), and Melissa Spottedhorse (Wichita). Including a couple of promised renewals, we're at an all-time high of 121 members!

CLUB MEETING

We will have a club meeting at Lake Afton on Sunday, July 12 at 1:00 pm. This meeting will be more of a social gathering, with a brief business meeting and no speaker. We will consider it a pre-Mudwater organizational meeting and will go over volunteer needs, course setup and the like. A lunch will be served - cold cut sandwiches, chips, cookies, etc. Feel free to bring a friend or your family. More details will follow regarding the gathering location within the park and any applicable park fee (the club will try to set up an "event" with the park to cover any entrance fees so you don't have to).

HOLLY UPDATE

July 1 - Holly was sent home this past weekend and is recovering there under the watch of her daughter. If you want to send a note or card, her address is 5614 S. 103rd St. East, Derby, KS 67037.

June 18 - We regret to inform you that club member and former Treasurer; 2008 Age Group 70.3 World Champion; and most recently Ironman Kansas 70.3 Age Group winner and World qualifier Holly Alexander, was in a serious car accident on June 18. Holly is in intensive care at St. Joseph hospital in Wichita. From what we have learned, Holly has several broken ribs, a head injury and other injuries. Please keep Holly in your thoughts and prayers. We wish her a speedy and full recovery.

KIDS TRIATHLON ANNOUNCED

The Hillsboro Recreation Comission and Woods Wellness have announced a kids triathlon, for ages 7 to 14, on Saturday, August 22, 2009 in Hillboro, KS. The distances are 100m Swim, 4 mile Bike and 1 mile Run. Click here for the registration form.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

Congratulations to the 25 club members who participated in Ironman Kansas 70.3. Among the racers were Kevin Nickel, Matt Morrow, Jon Evraets, John Anders, Randy Bitonte, Bill Hetrick, Alan Farrington, Gloria Gallegos, Grant Culver, Mark Hoyle, Fadi Mashnouk, Paul Polk, Walter O'Hara, Luther Ottaway, Kimberly Mendelsohn, Tanya Molleker, Holly Alexander, Jamie Morton, Scott Wadle, Paul Shimon, Karlene Ivy, Lisa Conklin, Robert McFarland, Lorainne Moeder, and Rich Wilson.
