In full disclosure, the Kansas Department of Health & Environment has already started their watch of Lake Afton for blue-green algae. The race was moved three weeks earlier this year to avoid the algae, which resulted in the 2023 race swim’s cancelation. With the limited number of registrants as of 04/26/24, and if a blue-green algae warning is placed into effect, the 2024 race will likely be canceled in it’s entirety. If so, refunds will be provided.
